Unlike Uber and Lyft, Wridz prioritizes the well-being of its drivers. With a subscription-based model, the company ensures that drivers keep the entirety of their earnings from fares. Wridz also promises a transparent pricing structure, without any hidden fees or surcharges. For Wright, the goal is simple: “It’s miles and minutes, no manipulations.”
Joining Wridz in shaking up the rideshare scene is D.C.-based Empower. The company’s CEO, Josh Sear, highlights the freedom and flexibility that Empower offers drivers. Operating as a server, Empower treats drivers as independent contractors and allows them to set their own rates. This enables them to earn more money while offering riders fares that are often lower than those of Uber and Lyft.
Both Wridz and Empower fully support the proposed legislation for driver minimum wage in Minnesota. They believe that allowing drivers to have autonomy over their earnings and work arrangements ultimately benefits everyone involved. While the future of Uber and Lyft in Minnesota remains uncertain, Wridz and Empower are ready to step up and ensure that both drivers and riders are well taken care of.
Wridz has already been pre-approved for a license in Minneapolis pending payment, with face-to-face interviews scheduled to begin on May 15.
