Rainier, one of the most popular low-cost airlines in Israel, has recently submitted a request to resume its flights to the country. This comes as a surprise, considering that just last month, the company announced the cancellation of flights for March and April.
Customers who were affected by the flight cancellations were given the option to receive a refund, rebook for a later date, or fly with another airline. However, there have been complaints from customers who were unable to purchase new tickets for future dates with Rainier during this period.
One of the reasons for the flight cancellations was the closure of Terminal 1 at Ben Gurion Airport due to the ongoing conflict. Rainier was asked to use Terminal 3 instead, which incurs higher costs. The airline justified the cancellations, explaining that the port tax fee for each passenger at Terminal 3 is $26, compared to $11 at Terminal 1.
Despite this setback, Rainier plans to resume flights to various destinations including Bergamo, Malta, Berlin, Bari, Budapest, and Paphos.
